We create a place where the history of gold mining comes alive, and tourists discover it with a smile, emotions, and a sense of participation in something unique. We combine education with entertainment to make your visit both inspiring and full of unforgettable impressions.
Our history
From gold dust to the tourist pearl of Lower Silesia
The history of the Gold Mine is the history of all Złoty Stok – a town that lived off mining for over seven centuries. The first records of gold mining date back to the 13th century. During this time, over 300 kilometers of tunnels were excavated across 21 levels, and in its golden age – the 15th and 16th centuries – the mine provided up to 8% of all European gold production. There were years of great glory when fortunes and fame flowed into the town, but also moments of drama – mining disasters, wars, and plagues. After the mine closed in 1962, 35 years of silence followed. It wasn't until the 1990s, thanks to the dedication of local enthusiasts, that the idea of reviving this place returned.
May 28, 1996 marked the opening of the "Gold Mine" Underground Tourist Route. Since then, we have been constantly developing, creating one of the most recognizable tourist complexes in Lower Silesia.

Impressive underground network of corridors and tunnels
Over 320 km of corridors, shafts, and tunnels located across 21 levels, reaching 500 meters below the surface, were excavated underground.
Today, only about 20 km have been made available for exploration, but the accessible tourist route is merely 1–1.5 km long.
Ochre Adit – a colorful mystery
Its corridor is about 130 meters long and dazzles with the natural color of orange-yellow ochre — a pigment valued for centuries, including in painting and cosmetics.
You will find fragments of original, wooden drainage pipes from several centuries ago and a flooded shaft with a unique lining there.
Underground waterfall and the orange "Gacek" train
Located in the Black Adit — it is the only underground waterfall in Poland, reaching a height of 8 meters.
Right after seeing it, tourists board the narrow-gauge railway, the so-called "Orange Tram," which takes them outside — the route is about 300 meters long.
Bats – natural inhabitants of the mine
About 8 species live in the underground, with a total of up to 150 individuals. Meeting them is a fascinating element of the tour
Our Golden mascot is "Gacek" the orange bat, whom you can meet in various places throughout the mine.
Not entirely discovered gold
Although Złoty Stok was exploited for over 700 years, the deposit has not been fully explored — science is still discovering new forms of gold, including native ones, e.g., in the mineral arsenopyrite
